Block cut, ground plumbing completed

The block has been cut, the base plumbing, (sewerage and storm water) completed and the electricity trench has been dug. The site has been prepared with the split level (garage, bedroom 2 and bathroom on the top level and the rest of the house on the bottom level).

Wow, where did the slope come from? I thought we bought a level block, oops.

  1. Hey there!! Long time no see!!
I was beginning to think you had changed your mind :) Its looking great. I bet you are excited to be starting.
Why do you need to split the home?? (not sure what self-assessable means)
All the best for a hassle free build.

  2. Thanks Sha. Yes, it is nice to finally get started. Splitting of the house was to ensure we stay under the 1m cut and fill. Otherwise we would need to do a full submission to council to explain where we were going to get the extra fill or dump the extra fill or how the slope was to be managed etc. We would also risk someone in council requesting that we re-visit all overlays (requirements/guidelines set out by council to ensure the land is used in the best interest of everyone so they say) which would not be a big issue as we are not building anything out of the ordinary but takes time for them to assess. (They were estimating for our block as it has a number of overlays on it around 3-4 months to assess which is an absolute joke and totally an overkill in my opinion).

Basically at the end of the day Newstart didn't demonstrate they were experienced to handle the council which maybe a risk of using small volume builders.
